Description:

What is the difference between "creeking" and "river-running"? What makes a creekboat a creekboat? What are flaring, boofing and eddy hopping? What skills, techniques and equipment are required for creeking other than those normally used for river-running? We aim to answer these and many other questions on our Creeking Coaching Courses being run throughout the winter. These courses are aimed at proficient level 3 paddlers who are comfortable on grade 3 whitewater (Liffey, Boyne, Inny, etc...) but who are looking to progress onto harder more continuous WW. Participants are responsible to have all their own appropriate equipment. Demo creekboats will be available to use on the day on a first come, first served basis. The maximum number of participants for this course is 8 and minimum age is 18 (unless accompanied by a responsible parent). This course will be run on a grade 3/4 river in County Wicklow. Please note the objective of this course is to teach creekboating technique NOT extreme kayaking. The choice of river will be based on level of water forecasted and its suitability for teaching (not necessarily for technicality).
